Welcome to the Merced Multicultural Arts Center. This 3-story facility, still
occasionally referred to as the old Montgomery-Wards building, was revitalized
by the City of Merced and opened to the public in 1996. Located in downtown
Merced, it is a beacon of creative energy, as well as the model for private
public partnership. Constantly changing art exhibits, arts education, live
theatre and musical performances are just some of the activities found at the
Center that make it a Central Valley jewel.
The Arts Center is much more than a place to see art. It is a place where
ideas are tangible, where beauty is not only in the eye, but in the heart and
soul, where what the artist creates is not always what the viewer sees. It is a
place where passion meets labor, where our hands and voices can tell marvelous
tales, where great stillness can become amazing drama. The Arts Center is a
place where our dreams can take us wherever we wish.
This is the Merced Multicultural Arts Center: home to passion and energy,
space and time, silence and sound, muse and artist--home to the arts.
